After graduating from CodeCore Developer Bootcamp, I was asked to assist with the part-time coding fundamentals course. This course covers skills and concepts for JavaScript, HTML, CSS, jQuery and building a simple app with Node and Express.
A copy of Abbot NYC, this application was built in order to practice with both React and SCSS in a short period of time. Though there's still more work to be done, I'm happy with the current results and my growth in responsive styling from my previous applications.
This simple chat application was built in order to practice using Node.js and introduce myself to using the socket.io engine. This was also a good opportunity to further familiarize myself with testing using Mocha.
Splitter is a social music sharing platform built using Ruby on Rails that allows users to follow friends, share music they’re listening to, make comments, and suggest music for others. Technologies used in creating this app also include PostgreSQL, JQuery, AJAX, Javascript, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, as well as the Spotify API. This was also my first time utilizing Rails' Action Cable feature in order to make updates happen in real time.
I hope to eventually return to this project in order to address the bugs that need fixing, add more features, and make it responsive.
First-place winner of the inaugural YVR Comedy Hackathon. Over the course of of two days, our team developed a parody game of the popular 'Pokemon Go'. Our app allowed users to 'catch' different categories of people through the use of facial recognition technology. We built our project using Ruby on Rails, HTML, W3-CSS, Javascript, PostgreSQL, and the FacePlusPlus API. We also relied heavily on proper Git practices and version control.
This 'Find My Pet' web app was created by a group as a 48 hour project at CodeCore. We later split into teams to continue work on the app to implement features, increase overall functionality and remove bugs. I predominantly spent time creating RSpec tests, pair programming to remove bugs, and I also implemented geocoder for the application. It was also a good opportunity to practice using git in a larger team environment.
This project was a simple blog app used for implementing and practicing the various skills taught to us throughout the bootcamp. After it's completion, I decided to follow up by implementing a few more features and took it as an opportunity to practice styling using pure CSS without any front-end framework.
